A set of three pieces including a good content A.L.S. "Wm A Lacy" 2pp. legal folio, "Roxberry Mountain County Mo." June 21, 1849 to Mrs. Ann. Hunt in Cass County, Georgia concerning an exchange of slaves and other property. He writes, in part: "...The principle object of this letter is to inform you that there was a marriage contract between your Sister Elizabeth & her Husband... that contact will stand the test of Law her property will revert to the Heirs of your father as she has died without a lawful Will. Now to prevent litigation and expenses I have made this proposition to Mr. Longan that if he will give up the Negroes that we will give him your sisters bed & furniture stock & a Negroe Girl Tene & make him a title to the same if he relinquishes all right & title to the.... negroes..." With integral address leaf. Usual folds, some loss from seal tear affecting a few words of text, light damp staining, else very good. Offered together with a manuscript D.S. 1p legal folio, "Horry District, South Carolina" April 7, 1851 "Whereas permission.... has been Granted to sell the Negroes belonging to the Estate of William Hearle decd according to the direction of the will... Now know all men by these presents that for and in consideration of the sum of One Hundred and One Dollar paid by U A Delettre he being the highest bidder for the same I do hereby sell and convey unto him... a certain Negro, named Cate together with her future increase..." Usual folds, light toning, else very good. Also together with a manuscript D.S. 1p. oblong 12mo., Frederick County, Md., Oct. 9, 1852 being a manumission for "...Mary Simmons... manumitted by Thomas Sessim[?]" Usual folds, else fine condition. Together, three pieces.
