An copy of the Sat. Aug. 20, 1814 issue of The National Intelligencer, 4pp. folio, published in Washington and containing a number of slave-related topics, including a slave sale ad on p. 3 proclaiming "Negroes For Sale...some of them young and able plantation fellows..."; also on p. 3, a $50.00 award offered for a runaway slave named James who "...ranaway [sic] from the Subscriber on Sunday...twenty-seven years of age, rather light complexion, high bald forehead, speaks quick when not embarrassed by an impediment in his speech which sometimes causes him to stutter..."; another runaway slave named Henry who is described as: "...an exceedingly good hostler, carriage-driver and waggoner..." for whom his owner will pay a $20.00 reward, and several other similar ads. Very good condition.

Shipment is sent USPS priority, USPS International Express (for most overseas) or UPS Ground at the auctioneer's option, signature required, unless other arrangements are made. Handling, shipping and insurance charges will be added to the invoice in one entry. Buyer's should be aware that large, framed, fragile or odd shaped items can incur substantial shipping and packing charges. Customer's who supply their own courier account number will still be charged a handling fee.
