227. SLAVE COLLAR Extremely rare hand-forged slave collar, ca. 1840's, approximately 14" in diameter and made of chain links, a locking device and likely used on a child on a plantation. Although various shackles for adult slaves are commonly seen, those used on children are seldom offered. De-accessioned from the Slave Relics Museum in Walterboro, South Carolina and accompanied by a letter confirming the sale and describing the item. Lightly rusted and lacking the key, otherwise intact.$1,200 - 1,500
