SITTING BULL
(1831 - 1890) American Indian leader of the Sioux nation, with Crazy Horse he led the attack at the Battle of Little Big Horn, wiping out George Custer and his entire command. After touring with Buffalo Bill, he was killed by Indian guards. Based at Fort Randall, Bailey, Dix & Mead undertook a series of 24 photographs with Sitting Bull, his family, and band in early 1882, of which this cabinet photo is number one. In outstanding condition, no soiling or mellowing at all, and no pencil notations. Superb.
