(SIR WILLIAM JOHNSON) JOHN JOHNSON
(1471 - 1830) Loyalist leader during the American Revolution, son of Sir William Johnson (c. 1715 - 1774), the Superintendant of Indian Affairs. Manuscript D.S. 1p. legal folio, [n.p.] Mar. 26, 1774, being an agreement between Johnson and John Ravano of Albany in which Johnson borrows from Ravano "...the sum of thirty four Pounds six shillings & eight pence currently Money of the Province of New York...and truly pay... before the first Day of June" Several months later, Johnson's father, William died making him a wealthy landowner. He had little time to enjoy his new estate as he raised a loyalist regiment in 1776 and soon fled to Canada where he remained in exile after the war. Light toning at folds and margins, else very good condition.

Shipment is sent USPS priority, USPS International Express (for most overseas) or UPS Ground at the auctioneer's option, signature required, unless other arrangements are made. Handling, shipping and insurance charges will be added to the invoice in one entry. Buyer's should be aware that large, framed, fragile or odd shaped items can incur substantial shipping and packing charges. Customer's who supply their own courier account number will still be charged a handling fee.
