SIDNEY BECHET
(1897 - 1959) American musician, an early jazz innovator who started as a clarinestist with Clarence Williams, and later turned to the soprano saxophone, playing with Duke Ellington and Noble Sissle. A.L.S. "Your Sidney" on hotel letterhead, 1p. 4to., Bruges, [n.d.], to his wife. In part: "My sweet little thing I am sorry to make you wait for the money, will you let me know if you receive the money...it won't be long I will be in Paris very soon. How do you like Herbert's wife?..Well sweet I will see you soon may god bless you...". Fine. Bechet relocated to France in 1950 after performing as a soloist at the Paris Jazz Fair which in a surge in his popularity in France. He married Elisabeth Ziegler in Antibes, France, in 1951.

Shipment is sent USPS priority, USPS International Express (for most overseas) or UPS Ground at the auctioneer's option, signature required, unless other arrangements are made.
