675. DANIEL SICKLES (1825-1914) Union major general who commanded a brigade at Chancellorsville and Gettysburg, where his rash advance in the Peach Orchard nearly caused a Union rout. War-date A.E.S., 2pp. tall folio, Camp near Falmouth, May 28th, 1863, on verso of a communication from Lieut. Col. Potter recommending officers and enlisted men for promotion. Sickles writes in full: "Approved & respectfully forwarded to adjutant general [?] D Sickles Maj Genl". Document also contains an A.E.S. by WILLIAM R. BREWSTER Colonel commanding the 2nd Brigade. A few archival repairs to verso in no way affecting endorsements or text, very good.$200-300
