Description:

SHRAPNEL-STRUCK WAFFEN SS HELMET
A scarce shrapnel-struck German helmet, a field gray-painted World War I "transitional" helmet pressed into use by SS-Verfugungstruppe soldiers. These helmets remained in service as late as 1941 until replaced by the M1935 model helmet. This example bears first pattern SS runic and NSDAP decals on one side, with a large, pierced indent at top which could only have been caused by a fast-moving projectile striking the unlucky wearer of this helmet. Additionally, the helmet is riddled by at least seven other bullet holes. Interior leather lining entirely missing and heavily rusted, still a rare relic.
