'SHORT SNORTER' FROM CHURCHILL'S VISIT TO MALTA

TEDDER (1890-1967), devised carpet-bombing techniques; Admiral RICHARD E. BYRD (1888-1957), polar explorer and aviator; J. FRANK DOBIE (1888-1964), American journalist and writer; CLARK LEE (1907-1991), war correspondent; Capt. LAURENCE J. HANSEN (b. 1917), Eisenhower's personal pilot); Capt. RUPERT CLARK (1919-2005), British aide to Field Marshal Alexander; FRED ASTAIRE (1899-1987), American actor and dancer; and others largely unidentified.
