Description:

(1893 – 1969) Marshall of the R.A.F. After serving as a squadron commander during the First World War, he became Director of Staff Duties and then Assistant Chief of the Air Staff at the Air Ministry. During World War II he served as Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief of Fighter Command and Air Officer Commanding in Chief of RAF Middle East Command in which role he was an advocate of Operation Accolade, a planned British amphibious assault on Rhodes and the Dodecanese Islands in the Aegean Sea. War-date "Combats in the Air" report signed as Major Commanding 84 Squadron, 1p. 4to., [France], Apr. 20, 1918, receiving a combat report (carbon, unsigned) from South African ace Capt. A. W. BEAUCHAMP PROCTOR, a recipient of the Victoria Cross. Proctor describes his attack damaging a German D.F.W. over Marcelcave where he states that he was able to: "empty a drum of Lewis" into the aircraft: "...it went down in a slow spiral, apparently under control..." Text a bit blurred from the carbon, signature is fine and distinct. File holes in margin.

Shipments are sent via USPS Priority, USPS International Priority, DHL (for most overseas shipments) or FedEx Ground at the auctioneer's option, signature is always required, unless other arrangements are made.
