Description:

(1886 - 1937) A close friend of Stalin and early on jailed with him for labor agitation. During the Revolution, he was Commissar for the Ukraine, and helped establish Soviet power in Armenia and Georgia. He ended up a suicide following long political disputes with his old comrade. Very rare typed D.S., 1p. oblong 8vo., [n.p.], June 18, 1936, a telegram dispatched to the Soviet trade representative in the United States, ordering him to cease negotiations with the Glenn L. Martin aircraft company, due to unsatisfactory delivery times and high costs. Ordzhonikidze signs at the conclusion in blue ink. A typed note at upper right indicates that there were five copies made of this message, with two delivered to Stalin and a third to Soviet Premier Vyacheslav Molotov. Shows file holes at the top end left edges, with several untranslated Cyrillic inscriptions on recto and verso, else very good.
