Description:

SEMYON TIMOSHENKO
(1895 - 1970) Marshal of the Soviet Union who rose to command Russian forces during the occupation of Poland at the beginning of World War II but displayed a total lack of understanding of the German blitzkrieg tactics after the launching of Barbarossa. Scarce D.S. 2pp. legal 4to., Nov. 25, 1949, an attestation of the merits of an officer who has been recommended for a promotion, boldly signed as head of the Baltic Military District. Timoshenko is still one of the rarest of the World War II Russian marshals! Pin holes at left margin, generally very good.
