A large bound cardboard folder, roughly 21 x 29.5 in., marked 'SECRET' on the front, titled 'Continental Europe: Strategic Maps and Tables, Part 1 Central West Europe', printed by the U.S. Army Map Service in Washington D.C. no. 149, prepared by 'M.I.S. 62', 1943, containing ten different maps and three transparencies of the region of central west Europe that includes France, Belgium, the Netherlands, southeastern England, and northern Spain, each with their own respective tables and symbols to provide additional information. The maps focus on different details including physiographic or topographical terrain, climate regions, coastal elevations, airfields/naval bases, agriculture, minerals, industry, and coastal or interior fortifications. The transparencies depict major roads, railways, or waterways. Given the date of publishing on these maps,. the focus is on German defenses along the French coast in preparation for the D-Day landings. All maps in fine condition, cardboard cover moderately worn with chipping and edge wear.
