Description:

Rare printed broadside, 9 3/4" x 15", dated April 29, 1946 and issued by the Chief Constable of the Scottish counties of Perthshire and Kinross-shire, notifying the community that German prisoners of war are being utilized for local work details. In part: "German Prisoners of War are being employed in this neighborhood. These men are forbidden to attempt to fraternise with members of the public... They are also forbidden to accept from the public any Money, Food, Cigarettes or any article designed to assist an attempt to escape. In addition, they are forbidden to barter, buy or sell anything whatsoever..." The announcement goes on to state that the prisoners are barred from entering any private premises besides their barracks, or any public buildings or businesses, and are forbidden to use public transport or to wear civilian clothing. The name of the Chief Constable appears at the bottom right, with a Perth printer identified at bottom center. Shows folds and file holes at the top edge, else very good to fine.
