Good pair of promotion documents for "Schutzpolizei" ("Reich protection police") officer Franz Strobl, includes: Partly-printed D.S., 1p. folio, Erfurt, Aug. 1, 1938, a certificate appointing Strobl a "Wachtmeister" ("sergeant") of the Schutzpolizei. The document is signed at the conclusion in black ink by FRITZ SCHMEDES (1894-1952), major-general of the Waffen-SS and Schutzpolizei commander who was demoted and became commander of the notorious "SS-Sturmbrigade Dirlewanger" after the unit's namesake Oskar Dirlewanger was wounded in February of 1945. Shows a large horizontal fold and notable soiling with a few small insect holes, else very good. WITH: Partly printed D.S., 1p. folio, Erfurt, Aug. 1, 1942, promoting Strobl to the rank of "Oberwachtmeister". An unidentified Schutzpolizei major signs at the conclusion in black ink. Shows a large horizontal fold with notable soiling and three insect holes to the recto, with a much more extensive are of insect damage to the second integral sheet, else very good. Two pieces.
