Description:

SANDRA GOOD
(b. 1944) Long-time member of the Manson Family and a close friend of Lynette ‘Squeaky' Fromme. Good was in jail with Mary Brunner for attempting to use stolen credit cards when the Tate/La Bianca murders took place, but was arrested at Spahn Ranch during the August 16th raid. In 1975 Good was sentenced to 15 years for sending death threats, and was paroled in 1985. T.L. (unsigned), 5pp. 4to., San Pedro, California, July 23, 1976, to CHARLES MANSON. In part: ‘...I've got the raccoon that looks like you and Red will soon receive the photo of you. I'm sending....a copy of a letter Red wrote to Dr. Clannon...I find when my unreal thought processes get jammed – like un-compute, I'm left in a state of mind spin and feel much pain in my body...I wonder who is real, who is love...My mind tells me that any purpose for life outside of working for a clean earth and then living in harmony with earth is an insane lie. I have not transcended the lies and fears...Weed brings my awareness to these things that are inside me...I got busted with a joint in my locker the other day...I talk to lots of people now. I could go on and on about my interactions with people – my reactions and their reactions...but I always come back to kicking myself in the arse saying to me ‘stay inside your family circle' But then what is it?...I wish I could talk to you but in my deeper judgements of myself I would be afraid to look at your eyes in fear of seeing my own fears insanity reflected...The S.S. people came to see me again. They had some letters that came from Stockton addressed to the president and the letters said ‘if me and red are not pardoned that the pres. would get his M---F---ing head cut off'...I looked at the letters and said that's just some kids doing...I don't know what to tell young people where to go when things get bad. This 19 year old here comes from rich family, and they threw her out on the streets at age 12 to be raped 5 times...When she was 11 she had pictures of you all over her room till her parents tore them down...Her dad, a psychiatrist thinks she should have a lobotomy. We had some good laughs over that one...A real little Mexican is making me a skirt-crocheting...On the color calendar, I was thinking the 7th color could be black for you...I don't see how red figured the calendar she made out...' Mailing folds, else fine. The calendar made by Fromme that Good mentions is also referenced by Fromme in a letter offered elsewhere in this sale. Accompanied by two cutouts from magazines depicting animals, and the original envelope. The copy of the letter from Fromme to Dr. Clannon referenced is also included and reads, in part: ‘...my principle thought besides the all important tape recorder is to ask that you arrange for Manson to have a few house plants...A lifetime prisoner should have something more...Whatever I did, I was convicted of the attempted assassination of the president of the country. Manson not only didn't kill but did not break the law. Yet I am and have been treated far better in the last year than he ever has been in seven...I'm tired of hearing others slander him and blame him for everything I am and do...' Sold with two copies of letters from a Keith Barn to Lynette Fromme, who was also incarcerated.
