Description:

SANDRA GOOD
(b. 1944) A long-time member of the Manson Family and a close friend of Lynette 'Squeaky' Fromme. Good was in jail with Mary Brunner for attempting to use stolen credit cards when the Tate/La Bianca murders took place but was arrested at Spahn Ranch during the August 16th raid. In 1975 Good was sentenced to 15 years for sending death threats and was paroled in 1985. T.L.S. 'Blue' (her ‘Family' name), 4pp. 4to., [n.p.] Feb. 28, to CHARLES MANSON. Fine content, in part: '...I got a memo from my unit manager saying that effective Feb 27 that correspondence between me and you will be discontinued. I blew it. Yelled and argued. Ran around trying to find out why they did it....not viewed as healthy...notified the unit manager that I was upset. I explained...most great minds have been imprisoned or killed...Galileo, Socrates, Christ Hitler etc. He didn't see any similarity of you with Hitler or Christ...He said things like I'd be better off if I never had met you...told him you didn't kill anyone that the people who did couldn't take responsibility and dumped it on you etc...The unit manager's name is don Williams and he is hung up on the notoriety - like that is the main reason for all restrictions...' She goes on to explain how she ended up speaking with the A.W., Jack Fevurly, who encouraged her to put in a B.P.-9 (administrative remedy). Good asks Manson if he could write if he thinks it would be helpful in allowing their communication while also mentioning reaching out to ‘Wes' for help, in part: '...thinking of writing to Wes...asking him to write a letter stating he feels our communication would be positive...If he is good then he can work off the B.S. he did at vac...he's not as obnoxious as he was weeks ago - he is either being sneaky or he has actually developed a new respect...gonna tell him as long as I can't write you I aint gonna write him...He did send a super birthday box. His wife, or he sure knows how to cshop and pick out the very best food...Id like if he could do your Xmas box next year...if you think he could help our writing would you drop him a line. I wanna get this fixed soon before it gets F.ed up on your end...' Handwritten annotations throughout. Enclosed is an article on turtles that Good mentioned Red wanted Manson to have along with five 1.5 in. x 1 .25 in. b/w negative photos showing what appears to be members of the 'Manson Family' posing in front of a movie poster for 'Manson' and two identical 3.5 in. x 4.25 in. color photos of Good, along with two cartoon clippings. Also included is an unrelated oblong piece of paper with the note 'Don't threaten me stupid you're not even crawling where I dwell. Spell your ass and put it on backwards' (not written by Good) with more writing on the reverse in a different hand, in part: '...This crummy note in reply to the postcard I sent him (kisbo)' Some stains, puncture holes from pen, and folds throughout the letter, else in very good condition.
