Description:

SANDRA GOOD (b. 1944) Long-time member of the Manson Family and a close friend of Lynette "Squeaky" Fromme. Good was in jail with Mary Brunner for attempting to use stolen credit cards when the Tate/La Bianca murders took place, but was arrested at Spahn Ranch during the August 16th raid. In 1975 Good was sentenced to 15 years for sending death threats, and was paroled in 1985. Lot of three letters sent from Good to Charles Manson, includes: A.L.S. "Blue" with "Sandra Good" sticker placed on the accompanying transmittal envelope, 4pp. 4to., [Alderson, WV, June 7, 1980], in small part: "...enclosed is a letter I'm sending Wes - It's a copy...Also is part of Red letter about Lawrence Schiller's book on Gary Gilmore [convicted murderer of two who famously demanded the implementation of his death sentence]...I got your last 2 letters. In one you say - make no deals for my life. It's mine already + I got a wife in 1954.' I didn't understand that - what deals? Also I tell people you are Red's and my husband...red + I are on top of anyone who mite try to build in us the will to get out...the AW Feverly offered me another job...he said he had a friend who had a nuclear power plant + needed an operator. I put my hands up to his neck to strangle him...Last time Mr. Feverly kidded about nuclear power - he asked if I wanted to help him build one - I said sure + we'll put all my favorite people in it + send it into orbit...I bet him one time that he would see the fall of the U.S. in his lifetime...I said the bet is, if I'm right, he serve in an army under Manson..." Mailing folds, else fine. WITH: T.L. (unsigned), 3pp. 4to., [Alderson, WV, June 7, 1980], a copy of the letter sent by Good to Wes, as referenced above, detailing her loud cell mates and disrespectful people and writing in part: "...in the mens joints they find out (the cons) who is being nasty and the dudes go beat the person up...some people will give no respect what you say or do. They only understand fear...in women's places there's too many sniches...other people can fight but if red or blue raises a finger it's a whole different story...I know how the rich pollute and kill and what their children say means little - just give them some T.V. and some sexy magazines and they can fuck off their hurts and drown their budding awareness...in drugs or sex..." She also notably states: "Manson does not hate blacks or Jews...a phoney jew and phoney Christian is another story...I do not like what many blacks are reflecting, I said to a black woman a few months ago, 'I'm sick of these Niggers' and she said 'I know what you mean, blue'...I never used the word nigger [struck through]...until I had seen what the word meant...I call a chair a chair and a liar a liar and a bitch a bitch...there is such a thing as a nigger [struckthrough in pen]...a black person who is reflecting tons of garbage and lies and is very very loud and someone you wouldn't want to live with or near...When mosquitos land on you, do you let them suck all your blood...how about a phoney jew reporter, book writer who sucks you ideas and feelings and then twists them to serve his own money making purposes and causes all kinds of human misery..." Mailing folds, evenly toned, else very good. WITH: Partial A.L.S. from LYNETTE FROMME (b. 1948), follower of Charles Manson who later attempted to assassinate President Gerald Ford, to Good, then forwarded from Good to Manson as referenced above, 4pp. 4to., [n.p., n.d.], discussing the book "Executioner's Song" about Gary Gilmore's double murder, in part: "...Wonder did not participate in the book like we asked him not to in 76. Paul Akins did. Creep...Steve Kessler's name is mentioned once...CM [Charles Manson] is mentioned 3 times...Gilmore also gives his opinion on my move on Ford. Not good..." Fromme later relates the trial of Gilmore to Manson's trial, adding: "It is very close to our experience w/ the tough guys, corroborates much of what Cm has experienced in the Ka...It has nothing to do w/ family thought yet there are many echo's of what we've learned...also some interesting revelations about people we've heard of + who did stories on us. Barry Farrell is in there and Eric Mishara + Jeff Newman the 2 from Nat'l Enquirer who burned C + who I sent to S.J. + Dennis scared..." Fromme signs "R" - the initial of her "Family" name "Red" - at the conclusion. Evenly toned, mailing folds, else fine. An incredibly content-heavy lot! From a grouping of Fromme's letters in the estate of Manson's biographer NUEL (MELTON) EMMONS (1927-2002), who had once been jailed with and later befriended Manson. He co-wrote "Manson in His Own Words".
