SAN PEDRO MINING CO.
A fascinating mining item, especially given the shareholders of the tottering firm, an A.L.S., 2pp. 8vo. on South Pacific Coast Railroad Co. letterhead, San Francisco, Mar. 23, 1881 to P. P. Minor, Supt. of the San Pedro Mining Co. to C. Solomon, likely the cashier at the Cochise Co. Bank. Minor writes that he: "...will be down in a few days having been delayed here...The San Pedro M. Co. will soon have money, as I have made arrangements for it. If any of the men should begin suit for wages, I wish you would stave them off until I return, and if necessary, give them a little cash...". Among the notable shareholders in San Pedro were San Francisco capitalist James Ben Ali Haggin, Lloyd Tevis, 20 year old president of Wells Fargo, Marcus Daly, and George Hearst. The South Pacific Coast RR was owned by James Fair, the Comstock millionaire.
