SAMUEL F. B. MORSE
(1791 - 1872) American inventor who experimented in telegraphy, inventor of the Morse Code, and sent the first wire message "What hath God wrought!" Manuscript L.S. 1p. 8vo., [New York], Dec. 31, 1861, to members of the Lecture Committee at the Mercantile Library Association, in part: '...In reply to your polite invitation to be present at the Hon. Edward Everett's Address...I would say that I with pleasure accept...". Rare during this period, near fine condition. Edward Everettt (1794-1865) was a prominent Massachusetts politician, a Secretary of State and Senator who gave the speech at Gettysbury which preceded that of Lincoln.

Shipment is sent USPS priority, USPS International Express (for most overseas) or UPS Ground at the auctioneer's option, signature required, unless other arrangements are made.
