Description:

ELIPHALET REMINGTON (1828 - 1924) American gun manufacturer, a co-owner with brothers Philo and Samuel of E. Remington & Sons gun-makers. Eliphalet was responsible for the construction of the plant at Ilion, New York and the purchase of equipment and contracts from Ames. Manuscript D.S., 2pp. oblong 8vo., likely relating to a loan issued by Ilion Bank. The front, also signed by SAMUEL REMINGTON, Ilion, May 9, 1858, issues a bill of "One Hundred and sixty seven dollars... with interest" to be repaid in three months. The verso, signed by ELIPHALET REMINGTON, Ilion, May 12, 1858, authorizes the bank to provide the loan payment to H. H. Teiueudorf[?]. Mild toning and water stains throughout, else fine condition.
