SALEM WITCH TRIALS
An excellent group of two documents bearing the signatures of noted Salem Witch Trial judges and other officials connected to the affair. Includes a partly-printed D.S. 1p. oblong 8vo., Boston, Oct. 22, 1700, a warrant to attach the goods of Edward Willmot of Marblehead, "...Mariner Master of the Ship Charles & Sarah...". The verso bears a rare A.E.S. of Judge JOHN HATHORNE (d. 1717) together with an A.E.S. of WILLIAM GEDDEY the Sherriff of Essex County. The second piece, a manuscript D.S. 1p. 4to., Salem, June 22, 1702, a deed bearing an A.E.S. of STEPHEN SEWALL who served as the clerk at the trials, "Steph. Sewall Recorder" together with an additional and quite rare A.E.S. of JONATHAN CORWIN (1640-1718) one of the judges. Both documents bear partial fold separations, light soiling, Hathorne's signature lightly traced-over, else very good condition.

Shipment is sent USPS priority, USPS International Express (for most overseas) or UPS Ground at the auctioneer's option, signature required, unless other arrangements are made.
