Description:

(SAD SACK) GEORGE BAKER
(1915-1975) American cartoonist, creator of the popular strip among American G.I.s, Sad Sack. An original drawing in ink and colored marker of "The Sad Sack" on a 4to. page transformed by Baker into a valentine. Offered together with an additional drawing of his title character with an inscription to his longtime companion Suzanne La France: "Is my face red! How could I forget April 19th [her birthday presumably], If you promise to forgive me I'll send some more of the enclosed! Love B.B." We are unsure of the origin of the initials "B.B.", but we presume this was a pet name of some sort. Together two pieces in fine condition.
