Description:

A fine Third Reich photo album, 62pp. 8vo., containing 87 b/w photos, most 3 1/2 x 2 1/2", assembled by a member of the SA-Standarte “Feldherrnhalle”, the honor guards of the NSDAP-Ehrenmal at the Feldherrnhalle in Munich. The front cover features the wreathed insignia of the SA in gilt tombac, while an SA sports badge, showing breaks to the wreath in two places, is affixed inside the front cover above an image of Hitler cut from a publication. The first proper page features a large image if the NDAP Ehrenmal, and the verso of this page feature cigarette cards depicting Peter von Heydebreck, SA-Fuhrer of Pomerania, and Dr. Alfred Meyer, "gauleiter" of North Westphalia. Heydebreck would be murdered during the "Night of the Long Knives", while Meyer would become Alfred Rosenberg's deputy in the Reich Ministry for the Occupied Eastern Territories, attend the Wannsee Conference, and commit suicide at the war's end. The gacing page displays two rare SA banners, with one view of the Wachstandarte "Feldherrnhalle" flag on a flagpole, and two views of an SA man holding a "Deutscheland Erwache" parade standard topped with a placard reading "Feldherrnhalle". Subsequent images show SA men training, with some showing the "Fuhrerschule der SA-Gruppe Westfalen" ("Leadership School of SA-Group Westphalia"), as well as the Standarte's participation in the 1936 "Reichparteitag" at Nuremberg, including views of SA men being transported in trucks displaying the "Feldherrnhalle" insignia on their doors. Additional images from this event show wreaths being laid at the "Feldherrnalle" itself, an SA band, Wehrmacht demonstrations, and Adolf Hitler saluting from an open limousine. Following this appear several images showing the Standarte marching in Berlin, several showing the Brandenburg Gate and a review by Hermann Goering. The album concludes with several additional images cut from newspapers or magazines, most showing Hitler and other NSDAP leaders at various party events. The majority of the original photos are captioned in blue ink on the page, and the album itself shows no missing photos, with a few small folds to some pages and minor wear and bumps to the covers, else very good.
