1853. (JACOB RUPPERT) (1867-1939) American brewery owner most remembered for his ownership of the fledgling New York Yankees. A superb item, an oversize albumen measuring 10 1/2" x 8 1/2", showing Franz Ruppert with his family walking in a park, with their four children, including Jacob, who is about two years old, seated in a charming goat-drawn buggy. Apparently taken during a 1869 trip to Turtle Bay Park, on 43rd-44st street between 1st and 2nd avenues in Manhattan. By G.A. Flach, New York. Originally mounted to 14" x 11" (sight), with contemporary mat, ready to fram. Very good condition, and a wonderful image. $300-400
