Description:

RONALD REAGAN
(1911 - 2004) Fortieth President of the United States who served for two terms (1981-1989) and contributed to the fall of European Communism. T.L.S. "Ron" on his personal letterhead, 1p. 4to., Los Angeles, Jan. 9, 1978 to AP reporter, spy and intelligence expert John Koeller. Reagan criticizes Carters foreign policy, in part: "...I don't see many chances for our paths to cross with me on the 'mashed potato circuit'...I would be delighted to hear...about your session with [Ferdinand] Marcos...we were guests at his palace. I can understand our friends abroad being confused about what's going on in this land of ours. This Administration certainly seems to be 'throwing feathers into the wind'...they don't know the difference between being a diplomat or a doormat...". Signature just a tad light, else very good.
