The minutes notably respond to the ongoing red-scare tactics of the Committee of Un-American Activities, as they pushed Hollywood to blacklist many actors who were accused of being Communists or sympathizers. The former president of the MPIC, Cecil DeMille, spoke to the council on his recent trip to Washington, D.C.: '...Films made by our enemies are softening up populations all over the world. We must find a means of giving this branch of our government the knowledge that this industry can supply. Sometimes these information films become the front line of the cold war. One cannot overestimate their importance. In Washington, I told them that you would be willing to help in every way open to you...' This document also covers the topic of 3-D movies and their process. Signed 'Ronald Reagan' in blue ink as the council's secretary. Three original binding holes, else fine. Sold with an orange 'REAGAN IN 68' bumper sticker - the year in which Reagan failed to win the Republican nomination for the presidency, losing to former Vice President Richard Nixon.
