Description:

RONALD REAGAN 1988 MOSCOW SUMMIT WORLD TIME CLOCK
Presentation world time-calculating clock, presented by President Ronald Reagan following the 1988 Moscow Summit to a valued White House staffer. The 8 1/2" x 8" x 3 1/2" teak-cased clock shows the time locally and in several dozen other cities worldwide. The top of the case bears a 5" x 2 1/2" brass plaque engraved with the presidential seal and reading: "THE MOSCOW SUMMIT May 29 - June 2, 1988" with Reagan's facsimile signature beneath. Very good. From the estate of Cmdr. Ronald L. Jackson (1928-1990). Jackson, a Navy officer, was tasked with supervising the planning and implementation of reciprocal state dinners, the operation of the White House Mess and food service at Camp David and aboard Air Force One, and travelled everywhere with Presidents Johnson through George H. Bush. The Moscow Summit saw Reagan and Mikhail Gorbachev finalized the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty (INF) and discuss bilateral issues including Central America, Southern Africa, the Middle East and the pending withdrawal of Soviet troops from Afghanistan.
