Description:

ERWIN J. ROMMEL (1891-1944) German field marshal whose Afrika Corps threw back repeated British and American assaults in North Africa, later he defended Normandy and ultimately was forced to commit suicide due to his implication in the Hitler bomb plot. A.L.S. "E. Rommel" penned on both sides of a 12mo. correspondence card, Potsdam, Oct. 15, 1933, in German. Largely untranslated, but appears to mention a visit to a girl in a school. Bears a second Rommel signature affected by one of two files holes, some marginal tears and a later ink notation, else very good. At the time, Rommel was teaching tactics at the Dresden Infantry School. Rommel ink letters signed in full are rare. $500-700
