Description:

ROLAND FREISLER
(1893 - 1945) Judge of Nazi Germany. He was State Secretary of the Reich Ministry of Justice, and President of the People's Court. He was also an attendee at the Wannsee Conference in 1942, which set in motion the Holocaust. Freisler was the most feared judge in Germany, hanging and guillotining ‘White Rose' and July 20 Bomb Plot defendants until his own death when a British aerial bomb blew up his court room. T.L.S. on his personal letterhead, 1p. 4to., Berlin, Feb. 17, 1937 to 'Party Mamber Lasch', sends thanks to his correspondent for having sent the yearbook of the Academy of German Law. File holes, else boldly signed, very good. Freisler was undoubtedly writing to fellow attorney KARL LASCH (1904-1942), German economist and lawyer who made his career during the Nazi era and was involved in persecution measures against Jews during the occupation of Poland. Lasch served as managing director of the Academy of German Law and later as head of the Reich Legal Office of the NSDAP.
