Description:

JOHN D. ROCKEFELLER (1839-1937) American industrialist and philanthropist who organized Standard Oil and virtually monopolized the industry until he was forced by a Supreme Court ruling to dissolve the company and break it up into regional producers and refiners. Scarce, attractive D.S., a stock certificate for five hundred shares in the Northwest Equipment Company which are issued to Rockefeller, Oct. 22, 1888, with the certificate picturing a smoking locomotive approaching a station platform. Boldly signed on verso with cancellation punch hole barely grazing one letter in signature. Very good. $1,200-1,500
