Description:
Signer ROBERT MORRIS and JOHN JAY on a single document, 1p. 7 1/2" x 2 1/2", New Brunswick, May 2, 1800. Morris pens a check to Jay: "Cashier of the Bank of New York - Pay to John Jay esquire - two hundred and ninety nine dollars and four cents. May 2: 1800 Dollars 299. 04/100 Robert Morris New Brunswick" Beneath Morris' check, Jay writes: "N. York 6 June 1800 - Pay the above to Peter Augustus Jay Esq. John Jay". Furthermore, the check is endorsed by Peter Jay on the verso. A chip at right margin costs part of only one letter in the date, a few spots with Morris' signature pen-cancelled as usual, overall very good.
