Description:
Robert Morris 1734-1806 Signer of the Declaration of Independence, financier and politician. Morris was instrumental in the financing of Washington's armies. D.S. 1p. sm. folio, Philadelphia, Apr. 18, 1795, a partly-printed certificate issuing three shares in the North American Land Company to a doctor, signed at conclusion by Morris as president. In rough shape; dampstained, soiled, and chipping affecting some text, but signature shows only spotty ink erosion. Damage is somewhat offset by handsome matting including an image of Morris and brass biographical plaque.
