Description:

RMS TITANIC
A nice grouping of four items relating to the ill-fated White Star Olympic class liner RMS Titanic which sank in 1912 with tremendous loss of life. Included in this lot is a rare relic, a small packet of coal recovered from the wreck site during the 1994 Titanic Research and Recovery Expedition, authenticated by the President of HMS Titanic. Along with an attractive stock certificate for the International Mercantile Marine Company, a trust company that owned the White Star Lines among others, formed in attempt to monopolize the shipping trades and bankrolled by J. P. Morgan. The certificate issues ten shares to De Twentische Bank, and features an engraving of the Titanic surrounded by tugboats. Finally, two autograph items by MILLVINA DEAN (1912-2009), the youngest survivor who was just nine weeks old when the Titanic sank: an A.L.S. on notepaper, 1p. tall 12mo., "7 Green Close", Dec. 16, 2000, to Andrew, in part: "...Excuse this paper, but I've only time to write these few lines. My Christmas card is being sent separately...P.S. I believe I've already sent you a card". With the Christmas card mentioned within, signed: "Andrew, with love from Millvina". Four items, fine condition.
