A.L.S. on his letterhead, 1p. 8vo., New York, Dec. 24, 1900 to a Mr. Merritt. In part: "...I wish...I could go out and visit with all the good folks who so kindly asked me but if I did I should be neglecting my own work and [would] have nothing to talk about...Tell your men from me to adopt Roosevelt's plan that it is 'better to be faithful than famous', then in the end they will be both..." Five marginal chips, one touching paraph but with no loss of text, else very good. $200-300
