(1913 - 1994) Thirty-seventh President of the United States who led during the Vietnam War, re-opened diplomatic ties with China and the U.S.S.R., resigned his office due to the Watergate scandal. Bold signature as Vice President adding date "July 7, 1954, penned at bottom right of a FDC honoring the Statue of Liberty. Cancelled Washington, Apr. 9, 1954, fine condition. Sold with a secretarially signed T.L.S. on White House letterhead, Nov. 17, 1969, addressed to American Ambassador Adolph W. Schmidt, in part: "...In my address to the American people...I explained our efforts to achieve a just and lasting peace in Vietnam...I know you are deeply interested in the constant and patient search for solutions to the Vietnam conflict...". With original envelope, along with a T.L.S. from Nixon's secretary Robert D. Ladd, sending the FDC. Three items, very good.
