Description:

RICHARD LE GALLIENE
(1866 - 1947) English man of letters and journalist, best known for his work the Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam (1897). A.M.Q.S. signed with initials "R. le G.A",1p. 8vo., Liverpool, [n.d.], in part: "...Dear Poet in a distant land, of whom I wrote that hard review, somehow, I know not why, I feel repentant, sir, concerning you...'In Proof' it seemed your just desert, I never thought of pity then, but now that Saturday is here, I wish it here to write again. Though such contrition on my part, may seem a little quaint to you, who never meant - why, 'bless your heart', to take it so au serieux...". Tipped to a vintage album sheet, one tiny tear at middle reinforced with tape on verso, overall very good.
