694. REVOLUTIONARY NEW YORK A fine collection of four documents concerning prominent New Yorkers on both sides of the struggle for American independence. Includes JACOB C. TEN EYCK (1705-1793), Merchant, mayor of Albany from 1748 to 1750, D.S. 1p. 4to., Albany, October 26, 1764 confirming a mortgage. Also signed by ABRAHAM YATES as witness. Yates (1724-1796 was a leading Albany patriot active on the Committee of Safety. Following the war Yates surfaced as a prominent anti-Federalist. Loss at upper right. Offered together with loyalist WHITEHEAD HICKS (Mayor of New York, loyalist) E.S. (signed twice) on the verso of a vellum deed, 1p. folio, New York, Dec. 20, 1753. Dampstains. Also together with ABRAHAM LIVINGSTON (Son of Signer Philip Livingston) A.D.S. 1p. oblong 8vo., New York, Sept. 2, 1774 a receipt from Jellis Fonda (the progenitor of the noted family of actors) for £62. And finally together with New York mayor ROBERT WALTER, D.S. 1p. legal folio, New York, October 9, 1723. Toned, margin chipped. Together four pieces in very good condition. $250-350
