REPLACEMENT CLOTHING FOR NEGROS - SMALLPOX INFESTATION Scarce partly-printed document, Confederate form "NO. 40-SPECIAL REQUISITIONS", 1p. 4to., Atlanta, June 13, 1864, issuing replacement clothes to "Negros confined in the small pox Hospital & their clothing had to be burned to prevent contagion..." Capt. L.P. Grant requisitioned "2 jackets, 2 pr Pants, 2 Shirts..." Smallpox was a serious medical illness plaguing both Union and Confederate forces. Most arsenals and prisons had smallpox hospitals to help prevent spreading the disease. Toning and showthrough from verso, otherwise good. $200-300
