REINHARD HEYDRICH
(1904 - 1942) "The Hangman", Nazi head of the dreaded SS and architect of the "Final Solution", his assassination in Prague caused retribution of the destruction of Lidice and murder of many of its inhabitants. Extremely scarce A.L.S. 2pp. 4to., Berlin, Dec. 10, 1934, to "Oberst", in German, in full: "My dearest Colonel! I want to wish you a happy birthday my dear comrade, I only want the best for you. Together with the RFSS [Reichsfuhrer-SS Heinrich Himmler] I share the desire to have you with us as long as possible. We anticipate many of your wise and well-informed decisions. Heil Hitler and always yours, Reinhard Heidrich.". On April 24, 1934, Heydrich was appointment head of the Gestapo and less than two months later ordered the purging of top SA officials in the historic "Night of the Long Knives" massacre. Fine condition. Our research shows this is the first Heydrich A.L.S. to ever come to market!
