Description:

RAILWAY WATER POLICE PROTECTION DAGGER
Very rare German Railway Water Police Protection Dagger, by Carl Eickhorn of Solingen, the rarest Third Reich production dagger made. This dagger was issued specifically to the small group of police typically stationed at railway barges and ferries operating between the German and Danish borders. This near-mint dagger, 15.75 in. long overall (in scabbard), blade 10.25 in. long, has a nickel-silver plated crossguard, beautifully detailed and showing a national eagle with wreathed swastika. The pommel, of the same material, shows a sun-wheel swastika at top, in perfect condition. The black trylon grip looks is likewise excellent, with absolutely no damage nor any flaws evident. The blade is also near faultless. It shows a light crossgrain which runs the full length of the blade, with no corrosion or other flaws visible, and the Eickhorn maker mark is dark and crisp. The tip of the blade remains sharp, and the original leather buffer pad is present. The nickel-silver plated scabbard is beautiful, showing no dents or dings. It bears a random pebbled body and two bands that have four horizontal lines running through them. The original throat retaining screw remains intact and unturned, and the scabbard fits perfectly. All of the components match in patina and age. A very fine example of this rarest of German daggers.
