Description:

Good pair of World War II-era propaganda leaflets intended for distribution by German forces to American soldiers, includes: a late-war double-sided propaganda leaflet with anti-Semitic content, 5 3/4" x 8 3/4", depicting a miserable-looking American soldier huddled in a snowy foxhole, beneath an image of a large, well-dressed man leers at an attractive woman as they enjoy a bottle of champagne. The verso is entitled "Real Fighting is to Begin Yet", and the text taunts the American soldiers then facing the German defenses along the Siegfried Line, bragging about the skill and experience of the German soldiers in their comfortable fortifications. In small part: "...Do you know, what are you fighting for? Well, well, for the simple reason that the Jews in America may safely make profits out of the war and even out of your death. Or can you say you have seen many Jews on the front? They know better. They pass the time with your girls and let you do the bloody job..." Shows a horizontal fold, else very good. WITH: a double-sided Anti-Roosevelt propaganda leaflet, 5 3/4" x 8 3/4", depicting a double image of Roosevelt in the costume of a Roman gladiator holding a bloody sword. The left side of the image shows him offering a large bag of money to a group of leering millionaires, while the right side shows him presenting an activated grenade to a wounded soldier ensnared in barbed wire. The title "Rich Man's War! Poor Man's Fight!" The verso bears the title "Roosevelt, the False Prophet!", and repeats the usual conspiratorial claims that Roosevelt concocted American involvement in the war to distract from a failing economy and to enrich Jewish financiers. Shows a horizontal fold and two burn holes, else very good. Two pieces.
