Description:

Allied leaflet, 2pp. 8vo., detailing what the German people must do to avoid further bloodshed. The recto displays a picture of General Dwight D. Eisenhower with a brief paragraph beneath it, reading in part: '...the civilian population must help themselves by resisting evacuation orders, self-protection against looting of their property...against the SS-terror and against the nonsensical atrocity propaganda of those who prolong the war. The occupation under Eisenhower brought security, order and final liberation from party terror to thousands of Germans in the western regions...' Underneath this is a section on Heinrich Himmler where he is described as a mass murderer intent on the continued suffering of his people to 'postpone the inevitable end of the war criminals by a few months' The verso delineates what the Germans can do to help, such as remembering names of war criminals and resisting evacuation. At the end it is exclaimed: 'This is how thousands of Germans acted in the west - in Kohlscheide, Kornelimunster, Ubach, Brand, Esingen, Grotenrath and many other communities. They had recognized: peace can be accelerated!' Folds, lightly toned with some spotting, else very good.
