PRINCE PAUL OF YUGOSLAVIA
(1893 - 1976) Regent of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia during the minority of King Peter II. When World War II broke out, Yugoslavia declared its neutrality. On March 25, 1941, the Yugoslav government signed the Tripartite Pact. Two days later, Prince Paul was forcibly removed from power. Although outwardly neutral, he remained pro-Allied throughout the war. Fine association A.L.S. on his official palace letterhead, 1p. 8vo., Belgrade, May 1, 1940 to Minister of Propaganda JOSEPH GOEBBELS. In part: "...A few days ago I received the hand drawings by Goethe which you gave me in memory of the German book exhibition in Belgrade...thank you so much for the present...". File holes at left and receiving stamp at top, else near fine.

Shipment is sent USPS priority, USPS International Express (for most overseas) or UPS Ground at the auctioneer's option, signature required, unless other arrangements are made.
