Fine content T.L.S. 1p. 8vo. on his personal letterhead, Canton, Ohio, May 4, 1896 to Joseph S. Negley of Plainfield, writing: "My Dear Sir: I am very much obliged for your congratulatory letter of the 2nd inst. What you say, as to the result of your observations in the South, cannot, of course, but be very pleasing to me". On May 1, 1896 the Illinois Republican State Convention resoundingly nominated McKinley for President. TAFT T.L.S. as Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, 1p. oblong 8vo., Pointe-au-Pic, Canada, Sept. 21, 1928 apparently declining an offer to write a piece for Geroge L. Baulig of Girard College in Philadelphia: "...You will have to excuse me from entering upon any such discussion as that you propose. I am too busy, and shall be if I have my health, during the coming year to write anything such as you suggest...". With original transmittal envelope. Usual folds, else very good. Housed in a simple frame. Also includes RICHARD M. NIXON S.P. 7" x 5" color, shows Nixon in 1993 posing with four of his grandchildren.
