PRE-BOER WAR SOUTH AFRICA An outstanding, pre-Boer War sepia photograph measuring 8 1/4" x 6", taken ca. 1880s, and depicting two Black amputees with their wooden prosthetic legs, standing in front of a corrugated tin shack beside a seated white man. In the background, two young Black men peer hesitantly out of a crudely-cut window. Backstamp on verso by photographer as Francis E. Pollard, New Primrose Studio, Transvaal. Mounted to original mount, with slight loss at upper right corner, and negligible spotting. Overall very good condition.
