Description:

PISTOL HOLSTER ATTRIBUTED TO GEN. GEORGE S. PATTON
An excellent relic attributed to Gen. George S. Patton, a U.S. Enger-Kress .45 caliber 1911 semi-automatic pistol holster from the estate of Lt. Gen. Geoffrey Keyes (1888-1967). The leather holster, stamped with a manufacturing date of 1944, was uncovered in a ditty bag contained within Keyes'' footlocker consigned to us in 2015. Also within the bag was a letter from Keyes to his wife of Headquarters, 7th Army letterhead, Mar. 29 [1946], in pencil. He notes: "...Got a nice note from Mrs. Patton. She said she had sent me one of his holsters as a keepsake. She had sent it c/o you so please hold on to it. It was certainly thoughtful of her...". The holster is in essentially unused condition. We know that Patton often carried a Model 1911 .45 semi, and that Keyes shunned that weapon, opting for a .38 revolver as his sidearm of choice. Accompanied by our letter of provenance.
