Description:

Pierre-Auguste Renoir 1841-1919 French painter and, with Monet a leader of the Impressionists. He later changed his style, adopting a more formal perspective. A.L.S. 1p. 8vo., [n.p.], Jan. 19, 1918 to a friend. During the height of World War I, the great artist informs his correspondent that his son Jean Renoir: "...is away for aviation but has written no one ." He adds that his son has been essentially rejected due to a wound, and regrets not having had him remain in Nice instead of in the "detestable" country He finds himself. Uniformly toned, light folds, matted and framed.
