Description:

Lot of 15 original 5 x 4 in. b/w photographs, almost all of which are aerial photographs of utterly-devastated towns and cities, presumably in Normandy and apparently shot from a B-17. Also included is an image of a shattered German heavy tank, and two or three images of the Normandy invasion beaches. Each stamped on the verso: "CONFIDENTIAL UNTIL RE-CLASSIFIED BY CENSOR". Very good. From the estate of Col. Ernest "Tex" Lee, who served throughout the war as Eisenhower's Executive Officer and Aide de Camp. Lee joined Ike in June 1941 and assisted in the planning of the invasions at Normandy, Italy, and the ultimate defeat of Germany.
