Description:

PHILO T. FARNSWORTH
(1906 - 1971) American inventor who developed the first fully electronic television system. A superb set of autograph manuscripts, 4pp. 4to. (with additional 8vo. slip with notes), [n.p., n.d.], being a series of equations with the first leaf titled "reduction of complex numbers" and the second headed "Conjugalis [?] of Complex numbers". The leaves were found folded into a volume from his library, Stanford Goldman's Information Theory (New York: Prentice-Hall, 1953) xiii, 385pp. 8vo. hardcover with dust jacket. Farnsworth' ownership signature appears on the front blank flyleaf, "P T Farnsworth" above an inscription from his staff at I.T.T. "Mr. F Get well soon! From your Research Dept. 4/14/54". A fine association piece. Manuscript pages toned at margins with minor chips, book bears some soiling and chipping to dust jacket, else very good condition.
